Acrylic Perspex, mdf, trainers

Video: 8:15 seconds

The performative film looks into the medieval lock (Bhotey Talcha) once used to secure temples in and around Kathmandu valley and how the idleness of its functionality is leading to its diminution resulting in a fetishized object. Contrary to the object I present a Nepal made trainer, (Gold Star) which once were known for their cheapness and represented the working-class people whilst now it has rebranded their approach with the recent surge of trainers’ culture directed towards youth. This contradiction encapsulates the tendency of rapid growth in Nepal while overlooking local and world heritage, artefacts and culture.
